How RAG Works
GeoDataX RAG breaks your documents into contextual chunks, indexes them, and retrieves only the most relevant pieces to enrich the query sent to the multimodal large language model — ensuring answers are accurate, relevant, and grounded in your data.
A Three-Step Process
1.
GeoDataX securely processes files stored on the user's local server.
All document formats — including PDF, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, JPG, and others — are temporarily converted into PDFs to enable consistent and uniform processing within the user's private environment.
2.
ColPali visual encoder model converts temporary PDFs into embeddings (vector representations) and stores them. This process is performed once, up front
GeoDataX can process up to 35 GB of data per hour.
These embeddings are later retrieved and used whenever a user makes a query.
3.
The user submits a query.
ColPali ranks the most relevant embeddings and retrieves the matching sections from stored documents.
A Visual Language Model or VLM then interprets the content of these sections to generate a response for the user.
